Exclamation EA you guys love money, SELL us castles for cash!!

Now, we all want to see uo stay around for 1000 years pretty much. I understand that to do that will require a lot of revenue. You already sell tons of in game things for money, so we don't have to worry about your scruples.

A lot of us would pay 500.00 cash in a second for a castle. You've got all that green acres space to play with, so why not make a nice rich subdevelopment. Its going to have to be gated and we'll need one of those orc security guards. Then, we can stand around the bank talking about I live in __________ acres.

I'm kidding about that, but you could make a bunch of actual money and that always looks good in the plethora of meetings you guys attend.

LOL... and here I thought everyone on Stratics hated castles... I just posted yesterday asking for Malas to be opened for castle placement... didn't go well. Look for New Castle space needed post on Uhall.

I suggested UO go mirco transaction for certain things, like runics! Time is money, and I would rather spend most of it making real money and paying a small fraction of what I make for runics instead of wasting most of my valuable time to **** around with bods, crafting quests, and the worst RNG in history.

I'd be on board for this if the money went to a worthy charity, but that's pretty wishful thinking.

I've played UO since beta, and in truth, owning a castle was one of my goals while playing this game. I see that's pretty unlikely except for probably the very last days before the game actually goes under.

But by the same token, I've come to realize I really don't need the castle, other than for my own pride, really. I love customizing my 18x18, and while I don't have nearly the storage space, I still get by just fine. In fact I probably could free up 500 storage tonight if I really put my mind to it. Being shrewd and determining what to hold and what to sell is just another strategic aspect of the game.

it would be nice to see more castle spots open up.. not so much in Malas, but in other areas. Along with opening up more spots, they can let us choose from 3 or 4 different layouts for the castles too!
wishful thinking though, it prolly wont happen

Saw the title and was going to disagree, but honestly if you or anyone wants to pay EA/ M $500 for a caslte, my vote is they make one and sell it to you. No, I wouldn't sell mine for $500, but suspect if enough folks see this thread and happen to be obn your shard, you really won't "need" EA/ M

Somewhere around 2000 a guy offered me 1975.00 cash for keep. It's real nice. :-) I of course didn't take it. Now, uo real estate isn't worth near what it was then. I've always been glad I said no. I didn't need the money, and it would be gone by now anyway. The keep, however is still wonderful. I've got 4 houses now for the 4 accounts. I don't need the storage since I through away/unraveled 3-4000 items. I want the space though. So, I'm about to buy the last house I'll ever have in uo. I'll probably give the cute like 12 x 16 or whatever it is by the shore away after I buy it. We love that house, but why have a small house when you can have a big one?

Personally I think the 18 x 18s we have in Malas are the best houses going. They are really very beautiful and have plenty of storage. Castles are mainly hallways and small rooms. Keeps were my favorite, but even they aren't as good as 4 great big rooms like the 18 x 18s have.

Maybe place one on test and see if you really want to pay cash for one.

Mine is great for storage and that is it. Deco nightmare. Well for me.

After losing 3 keeps I finally got one and like it for deco more than my castle.

If you are spending 2k of real money for a virtual castle in a computer game, you really need to examine your values in life.

I mean, come on. That's more than a lot of hardworking people make in a month.

Money IRL isn't earned on a fair basis and doesn't depend only on skills. It leads to disproportions of salaries, which means that there'll always be someone to spend the equivalent of months of hard work on a trinket. You're supposed to say it's their right and smile.

Says who? Our company actually raised 2k at our Fall Festival, and that's gonna feed 500 homeless people this month.

Sure, it's not my money and its not my call, but it seems frivilous. We're talking a "commodity" that doesn't even really exist and could well be gone tomorrow if EA closes down UO.

Cowboy 1: Lone Ranger, huh? I hear you are the best shot in the West!
Cowboy 2: Yeeeah, I bet that' aint true!
Lone Ranger: Oh yeah?!?

(The Lone Ranger grabs a nearby canteen, throws it in the air and riddles it with the bullets from both revolvers before it hits the ground. The cowboys stand amazed.)

Tonto: (quietly) The silver in those twelve bullets could have fed my tribe for three months....

(Everybody looks uncomfortable)

Such a party breaker that Tonto!

I'm happy you think that.
Alas, it's not the case of most of the society. Too many just yell "Get a jurb!" at vagrants. Well it's changing. Bank employees who have a hard time to get a jorb back and the crisis more generally seem to blow a breeze of responsability in people's way to spend money. Some of the biggest French restaurants are abandonning some of their stars to make simpler dish for a more decent price. The richer people aren't touched by the crisis financially, but their behavior has changed.
Are people becoming wiser?

I remember back in the day when I thought the only thing standing between me and a nice big castle was raising the few hundred thousand for the deed, lol...=)

after ten years of on and off game time, I still dont have the castle, just a nice little house in the burbs with reasonable storage and nice distance from the neighbors.

For that matter, I always imagined I'd have a castle in RL someday too, and after 31 years of almost constantly being logged in to RL(there were some rough nights in college) , I still don't have the castle, just a nice little house in the burbs with reasonable storage and nice distance from the neighbors.

Something tells me my time has been more efficiently used in UO than RL.

Anyway, I think it'd be really cool if UO sold off Castle Blackthorn in Britain. THey could have an online auction and donate the money to some innocuous charity, maybe gamers anonymous or something.

But no, lets not sell castles; people that want to buy them for RL cash already have no problem doing so if they know where to look.

I certainly wouldn't pay $500 for anything in a game... ok.. maybe Airsoft.. but that's future... sure as hell not now. And they don't need to do that anyway... there are vacant spots all over this game where housing is not and will most likely not ever again be filled... so open it up a bit... lift the no castle bans in some areas... solves the problem.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one who wants one... just because they do. Thought for a second I was missing something...

You make an interesting point.

They could sell land with a new type of account and we could build whatever we wanted on that land no building restrictions other then fitting it on that land space.

You could go even farther with this by setting up elections through the elections you can build rivers, channels, roads and controlled public areas through out the lands. Generally you would vote to see how much of your land would be used by the public for these projects.

UO has housing to build this kind of thing. No other gaming platform could even attempt this.
They should take advantage of this.

Why not? everyone wins.

The more people buy this junk the more encouragement they get to sell more stuff for $$ that should be obtainable through normal game play. Dumb ass.
